FREE for Refugees

The Refugee Employment Event will allow refugees, displaced people and asylum seekers (with the right to live and work in UK) to meet with employers who are currently recruiting for positions across a range of sectors in the local area.

This event is being organised in partnership by ABZWorks and the Refugee Employment Network and is supported by EY and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

Agenda

There will be an option of 4 separate sessions that job seekers refugees can attend.

• 10:00 – 11:00 - Session 1

• 11:00 – 12:00 - Session 2

• 12:00 – 13:00 - Session 3

• 13:00 – 14:00 - Session 4

Who is eligible to attend the event?

The event is open to refugees, displaced people and asylum seekers who have the right to work in UK. If you are registering for a ticket - please ensure you bring your proof of right to work to the event

About ABZWorks

ABZWorks is Aberdeen City Council’s employability service, which provides a range of support to city residents to help them into employment, education or training. The service delivers a range of activity for people aged 16+ who are not in education, employment, or training to support them on their journey.

About REN

The Refugee Employment Network (REN) is a charity (#1196168) that works with its members to help ensure that all refugees in the UK are able to access appropriate, fulfilling, paid employment or self-employment.

REN works across the UK with all refugees and have a wide network of over 250 members, including local councils, charities and employers. To date, they have engaged with over 500 employers and posted over 16,000 jobs nationally.

This is REN's 3rd jobs fair and has been designed as a ‘one-stop shop’ to bring local and national government, employers and associated support networks to refugees in Aberdeen, with a focus on those supported by the city

What is the support/help and benefits from attending the event?

• Refugees will gain support and advice to navigate the barriers related to employment, benefits, education, housing and health from the respective exhibitors

• Support with language translation the day

• Opportunity to meet the contacts needed for multiple services in one session and build a relationship for future needs

• Greater understanding of the path to resettlement to better inform the wider refugee community
