Reformulating the Visualisation of Climate Disasters (Open Lecture)

Climate disasters have doubled in frequency and scale since 2000, and are expected to double again by 2035. As events such as catastrophic wildfires pose an unprecedented threat while simultaneously resisting prediction, we need to ask: “How do we picture such events so that we can meaningfully understand and safely prepare for them?”
In this open lecture, Scientia Prof. Dennis Del Favero FRSN FAHA will discuss the urgent need for a form of picturing that leverages advances in both art and technology. By converting scientific simulations into dynamic, immersive imagery, users can interactively rehearse for responding to threats.
Entry is $20 for members, $30 for non-members, and free for students. Registration closes Wednesday, October 7 at 2pm. A cash bar will be available from 5:30pm.
