Con la sua scrittura coreografica – fortemente ancorata alla tradizione del teatro-danza ma al contempo aperta ad una dimensione visiva e percettiva e alla sperimentazione di peculiari tecniche di movimento – Marcos Morau ha imposto la sua La Veronal all’attenzione internazionale. A più di dieci anni dalla fondazione della compagnia, il coreografo e regista spagnolo presenta il suo Opening Night come un omaggio allo spettacolo dal vivo, al teatro e alle esperienze che solo questo luogo può contenere. Non è un caso se il titolo di questo percorso rimanda immediatamente alla passione per l’omonimo film di John Cassavetes e per la sua protagonista Gena Rowlands. Alla scatola scenica, al magico splendore delle luci, alle ombre e naturalmente ai fantasmi che abitano tutti i palcoscenici, Morau vuole dedicare questa serata per spogliare la macchina scenica, mostrare le sue aperture, le sue botole e tutti i personaggi che le attraversano.

With his choreographic language strongly anchored to the dance-theater tradition and to the experimentation with peculiar movement techniques, but at the same time open to a visual and perceptive dimension, Marcos Morau has garnered international attention for his Company, La Veronal. More than ten years after the foundation of the Company, the Spanish choreographer and director presents Opening Night as a tribute to live shows, to the theater and to experiences that only this space can contain. It is no coincidence that the title of this work is a direct, reverential reference to the homonymous film by John Cassavetes and its protagonist Gena Rowlands. Morau wants to dedicate this evening to the stage box; to the magical splendor of lights and shadows; and of course to the ghosts that inhabit performative stages. He wishes to undress the stage machine, to expose its openings, its hatches and all the characters that move back and forth through them.
