Join KCPublic for our first step in taking the new satire “Reduction in Force” from page to stage!Beginning with this reading, KCPublic will work with our 2025-26 Resident Playwright Ryan Bernsten throughout the season, culminating in this play's first production in May 2026 at our 5th Annual Theatre Lab FEST.
About Reduction in Force:
Leadership at S.L.A.Y., a struggling youth suicide prevention nonprofit, is planning mass layoffs in the name of “sustainability.” Employees scramble to keep their jobs in a workplace where loyalty trumps impact, performative virtue masks ambition, and gaslighting is policy. Reduction in Force is a blistering comedy about power, performative politics, and the human cost of a mission-driven machine.
Content Advisory: Strong language, mature themes and humor regarding suicide and race.
As always, admission is free-at-the-door!
