In last year’s survey Cape Cod, MA was the number one destination that our travelers indicated that they wanted to visit, and so this trip should be very well received! We will depart from Redstone North Huntingdon at 7 am on Monday, June 16th, and travel as far as Milford, MA. We will enjoy a group dinner close to our hotel that evening. Tuesday morning we will make our way towards the Cape, making a lunch stop on your own en route. Upon our arrival, travelers may elect to walk about Hyannis, our home for the next four days, or take a 2pm whale watching expedition! This 3.5 hour expedition will be an additional $75 for those who wish to participate. After we check into our hotel, we will enjoy a group dinner at DiParma’s Italian Restaurant. On Wednesday we will board a fast ferry to Martha’s Vineyard where we will enjoy a guided motorcoach tour of the Island, and time for lunch and shopping on our own. Enjoy seeing lighthouses and colorful historic cottages along the way. We will return to mainland in time to enjoy a group dinner at Scally’s Irish Pub. On Thursday a fast ferry will again whisk us across the waters to Nantucket! The cobblestone streets and quaint villages are sure to delight! We will enjoy sometime and lunch on our own before an afternoon guided coach tour of the island. We will make our way back to Hyannis to enjoy dinner at Tugboats. On Friday a step on guide will join us for the day to give us a tour of Cape Cod, including time in Provincetown. Those who wish may use the time in Provincetown for shopping and strolling, but we will also offer an optional one hour “dunes tour” for $45 per person. Those who choose to do this will board 4 wheel drive vehicles to make their way out on to the dunes, seeing the historic dune shacks and more. Lunch will be on our own in Provincetown. We’ll make our way back to Hyannis for one final night, where dinner will be on your own in one of the many area restaurants. Enjoy the art and diversity of this town on thievery tip of the peninsula. On Saturday morning we’ll have a little more time to shop and have lunch in Hyannis, and perhaps visit the JFK Museum on our own, before heading down the road to Plymouth, MA. Our afternoon will include time seeing the infamous rock and visiting the Plantation. We’ll enjoy a Thanksgiving Dinner at Plymouth before heading back to Milford, MA for our overnight. On Sunday morning we will head for home at about 9 am, arriving back to Redstone in the early evening. Prices for the trip are as follows: One person in a single: $1925 Per person in a double: $1425 Per person in a triple: $1275 Per person in a quad: $1175. Rooms have either two queen beds or one king bed. Prices include motorcoach, driver room and gratuity, hotel for 6 nights, 6 breakfasts, 5 dinners, ferries to Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket, tours of Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, Cape Cod & Provincetown, and admission to Plymouth Plantation. We strongly encourage you to consider travel insurance for this trip. This will protect you in case you need to cancel due to medical concerns or family medical issues, and will provide an additional layer of insurance protection while traveling. If booking insurance on the day of the first deposit for this trip, the cost would be around $110 for an insurance policy for a72 year old. Costs will fluctuate based upon age of the traveler. Only 38 spots are available for this trip so call Justin at 724-832-8401 X 3378 to hold yours with a $100 deposit.Additional Information:
Redstone trips are right paced for those who are 55 and better, but all ages are welcome to participate. Participants must be able to board and exit a motorcoach with minimal assistance. Usually, there are 4 to 5 steps going up on to the coach. Participants or there roommates should be able to manage their own luggage once it is taken off of the bus. Some hotels offer luggage assistance while others do not. One guest per motorcoach may bring oxygen on board, so if you will be needing to bring oxygen please let us know as soon as possible. Mobility devices including rollators, wheelchairs, and lightweight motorized scooters are welcome. Please let us know you will be bringing a mobility device so that we can plan appropriately. At each of our group dinners there will be several menu choices. We will ask you to make your menu selections about three weeks before the trip. Please let us know at that time if you need special dietary accommodations beyond the menu selections. Hotel breakfasts tend to be carb heavy, and so if you are on a gluten free or similar diet, we do encourage you to bring some items to supplement the hotel breakfast offerings. A $100 deposit will hold your spot and is fully refundable until 60 days prior to departure.
At that point, the deposit becomes nonrefundable because it is likely that we have already had to use that money to purchase tickets or activities in your name. The balance due on the trip must be paid in full 30 days prior to departure. You may elect to do an EZ-Pay plan where we automatically divide your amount due into four payments, and bill your credit card on file on an established schedule. Any payments made in advance are also refundable up until the 60 day mark before travel. Between the 60 day and 30 days before travel time period, we will refund any additional payments you have made beyond your deposit, but your deposit will be retained.
Once we are within 30 days of departure and your trip is paid in full, many aspects of the trip will already be paid to our providers, i.e. tours, hotels, etc. We will refund you what is possible, but in order to protect yourself and your investment in the trip, it is well worth the additional expense to take out a travel insurance policy. We will then work with you to submit any necessary documentation to the insurance company to assist you in receiving any entitled refunds. If you elect not to purchase travel insurance, the amount that we will be able to refund you becomes increasingly small the closer we get to the trip.
Please keep in mind that Redstone Goes is a travel club and not a travel agency, and we do not operate with a profit margin that
protects us in the event of cancellation. We charge our travelers the cost of the trip, and any modest proceeds go to support our charitable care programs at Redstone. Sample Payment Schedule in a double room per person:
ASAP: $100 to hold your spot along with $110 (on average) for travel insurance policy if elected. Travel insurance will be charged directly to your credit card and not run through Redstone account.
2nd EZ Pay March 15 $442
3rd EZ Pay April 15 $442
4th EZ Pay May 15 $441 plus the additional $75 and $40 for the whale watching and dune tours if you choose to participate in those.
Bus seating is assigned for the duration of the trip for the purpose of minimizing the spread of germs. If you have specific requests related to seating, please mention those to Justin when you register and we will try to accommodate your requests. Please also let us know if you are traveling with other friends so that we can seat you together. Temperature is hard to regulate throughout the bus. Therefore we recommend that you consider bringing a light blanket, hat, socks, jacket, etc. to wear if you tend to be cold. The bathroom on the bus is to be used for “essential “purposes and we will make rest stops to use toilets every two hours. Your large bag will be underneath the bus but you may bring a small backpack, personal item with you on the bus. Snacks and beverages are welcome. Please make sure that you have a closable lid on any beverages. We do not pay the additional fee for alcohol on the bus so alcoholic beverages should not be consumed while traveling. Solo travelers are welcome to join us, but please note increased prices due to the fact that hotel rooms are a big expense and not being shared with a second person. If a solo person would like to find a roommate, we can try to connect you with another traveler who might be seeking a roommate. All of that being said, our solo travelers report that they enjoy Redstone trips because they get to travel with a group of friends but enjoy alone time when they wish. So please don’t let concerns over traveling alone stop you from joining our adventures. Redstone Goes Trips are coordinated by Lisa Dormire and Justin Anderson. Lisa is Redstone’s VP for Mission Support and has been doing group travel for 25 years. She works with receptive agencies in the locations we are visiting, and local charter bus companies to arrange our trips. Lisa generally accompanies each trip. Justin serves as the registrar for our trips, taking payments and fielding phone calls related to travel and is occasionally able to join a trip.
