We are returning to the Simi Valley Library for our 2021 Blanket Drive and Mini Powwow!You are welcome to come whether or not you are a member of the Native American community and whether or not you are making a monetary or blanket donation.
Join us for a good cause and a back-home style gathering, humble, from the heart. We expect to have at least one if not two or more powwow drums. If you are a dancer please consider bringing your regalia and joining us. The purpose is to collect new, warm, washable blankets to send to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota, as well as the funds to ship the blankets.
A blanket won't fix the difficult circumstances that reservation life is full of. But it will keep someone warm. A blanket is a gift of love. A blanket for someone you may never meet is a gift of unconditional love.
The blankets are given as gifts, not charity. That is an important energetic transformation.
We send the blankets to Alex White Plume who redistributes them to individuals and families in remote parts of the reservation. In years when donations are particularly abundant, some of those blankets have made it all the way to Wounded Knee, SD via the Oomaka Tokatakiya (Future Generations ride). They are given as gifts. They are given in a good way.
Also accepted are new, warm socks, and new to like-new winter clothing items such as ski pants and jackets. New, small to medium sized stuffed toys will also be taken. Please refrain from buying giant teddy bears and the like - they cost $40.00 to $60.00 to ship.
