About this Event
People who study this kind of thing have found evidence that wine making has been practiced in Burgundy since at least the 2nd century AD -- and maybe even earlier. The history of this wine region is steeped in intrigue. Probably. But it's definitely deeply entwined with religion and royalty. Everyone from the Benedictines to the House of Valois have had a hand in these grapes, so when you take a sip of these wines you'll be tasting the result of nearly 2000 years of human history and labor.
In short, there's a reason that Burgundy is home to some of the most expensive and renowned wines in the world, but that doesn't mean you need to be a connossieur to appreciate what Burgundy's throwing down. The wines speak for themselves, though often in French.
AND IF THAT'S NOT ENOUGH TO GET YOU HERE, we'll also be tasting wines from Sancerre, an appellation that lies almost entirely on the left bank of the Loire River. Sauvignon Blanc is what they're known for here, with the wines exhibiting flint and mineral notes that the French call 'Pierre à fusil.' If this Pierre is half as cool as his wines then somebody give me his dang number, amirite?!
