Port Chicago Weekend: SS Red Oak Victory Experience

You've never been to Red Oak Victory? Not sure if its worth the cost of admission? Well, here's your chance to come on board for free on Port Chicago Weekend and see what it's all about. We aren't offering any docent tours during the open house but you are free to walk around the ship and Red Oak Victory crew members will be strategically placed to answer your questions.

To commemorate Port Chicago Weekend the Port Chicago Alliance will be sponsoring this event in cooperation with Red Oak Victory. We'll have live big band music, vintage cars on display, people in authentic 1940s uniforms and civilian clothing, and a food truck where you can purchase lunch. We will also be showing the movie "Mutiny" which tells the story of the Port Chicago Disaster and the important historical events that followed.

Maybe you have thought about volunteering for the Red Oak Victory crew? During the open house, the ship's crew will share short presentations about what it's lke to be a volunteer and they will be glad to talk with you about getting started as a crew member.
