The Red Dirt Rangers have spent decades creating a sound that could only come from Oklahoma—a freewheeling mix of country, rock & roll, folk, blues, Western swing, and whatever else happens to feel right when the music starts.
As Greg Johnson once wrote for No Depression:
“The Rangers have a sound that combines the legacy of Woody Guthrie and Bob Wills with the spirit of everyone from Merle Haggard to the Grateful Dead and all manner of American music in between.”
That pretty well says it.
The Rangers have never been interested in fitting neatly into one musical box. Their roots run deep, their influences run wide, and the result is music filled with soul, personality, humor, and the unmistakable spirit of the Red Dirt scene they helped define.
Joining them is Oklahoma treasure Randy Crouch, a remarkable multi-instrumentalist whose musicianship has become an important part of the state’s musical legacy. Perhaps best known for the fire and freedom of his fiddle playing—he’s even been called “the world’s best rock fiddler”—Randy is equally at home on guitar, pedal steel, and just about anything else he decides to pick up.
Put the Red Dirt Rangers and Randy Crouch together and you don’t simply get a concert—you get a gathering of musicians who have helped shape the sound and story of Oklahoma music.
And there may be no better place to hear them than The Blue Door.
Come join us for a very special night of songs, stories, old friends, musical history, and plenty of Red Dirt.
