Red Bull Dance Your Style Workshop: Musicality w/ Coflo & TsunAMI

Musicality. Every dancer’s strength and weakness. What does it mean to be on beat? How do you stay in the pocket? What is the music saying and how do you translate it? If you’ve thought about these questions, welcome to the club. A dancer’s journey with musicality will always evolve. If you’re ready for the next step, this workshop with Coflo & Tsunami will help you explore new territory.

Join us as we celebrate dance and keep the Red Bull Dance Your Style Weekend going strong with 3 workshops back to back at the Dance Institute of Washington! RSVP at the link to reserve your spot - we suggest arriving 20 minutes before the start of the workshop. Please note, all participants will be required to fill out a release waiver onsite. NOTE: This workshop is for participants 16 and older; if you are under 18, you will need a parent or guardian on-site to sign the release form. Participants and spectators welcome.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: DIW will require all participants to fill out a COVID-19 Daily Screening Form the day of as well as requiring masks at all times when not activily eating or drinking. We will send out the Daily Screening Form the morning of the workshop as we suggest filling this out before you arrive onsite.

About the instructors:

Coflo:

Coflo is a music & movement artist from the East Bay Area of California. He is most passionate about house music, dance, & culture. It serves as his inspiration to create new sounds that he regularly releases as a producer. When it comes to music, he says "If it feels good, it's good music."

TsunAMI:

tsunAMI Ferreira is a multi-talented artist with a passion for architecture, kittens, dance, and skate. A creative at heart, her drive to continue exploring ideas has influenced everything from what she does to how she moves. This has led tsunAMI to develop a unique talent and is now widely recognized for her ability to dance at a high level even while on rollerskates.

About the Venue:

The Dance Institute of Washington - DIW is the leading minority-led dance equity organization in the DMV, supporting students from underserved communities and securing top DC arts foundation funding. DIW performs multiple times annually at the Kennedy Center and THEARC as well as at multiple venues and festivals around the region and country. DIW offers a holistic set of extra-curricular key services to support their students including physical therapy, nutritional seminars, and career development training, along with arranging college tours for prospective students.
