Join us for a book reading of “Red Altar” with author Nancy Wang on Saturday, March 15, 10:00-11:30 AM.
Nancy Wang will read from her novel which
follows three generations of an immigrant Chinese families that pioneered the thriving fishing industry of the Monterey Coast. This true story begins in 1850: Six teenagers, a shipwreck in Carmel Bay, waves of anti-Chinese prejudice, yet, through the decades the Quock Family triumphs over racism again and again.
Nancy Wang, a 5th generation Chinese American and ancestor of this historic legacy, is a member of Eth-Noh-Tec storytelling theater that has celebrated over 40 years of storytelling in the genre’s of traditional Asian myth and folk tales and modern Asian American narratives.
