About this Event
Join us at Elements Outfitters Edmonton for an evening of storytelling, diverse perspectives, and community building. We are teaming up with CPAWS Northern Alberta to bring together a panel of local leaders, athletes, and advocates to explore the vital link between outdoor recreation and conservation action.
Snacks and beverages will be provided with all drink sales and donations going to CPAWS Northern Alberta! Doors open at 6:00 PM with the discussion starting at 6:30 PM.
Meet Our Panelists
Evan Littauer with
Evan caught the bug for being in the mountains through his highschool Outdoor Adventure Club. This has led him on a path to achieving his BSc in Forestry at the University of Alberta, and currently works in the Alberta Public Service as a Planning Forester, aspiring to drive forest policy in Alberta towards a more sustainable future.
His time spent out in the mountains, along with working in Alberta's boreal forests has fostered a desire to turn his passions into purpose through connecting with other members of the Edmonton outdoors community. You can find him organizing advocacy efforts with Protect Our Winter’s Canada, maintaining single-track trails with the Edmonton Mountain Bike Alliance, or just going for a run in the river valley!
Leanna Carriere with
Leanna Carriere is a personal trainer, former Team Canada track and field athlete, and Canada’s first female decathlete. An accomplished endurance athlete, she has completed the Mount Everest Marathon and multiple Ironman events. A keynote speaker for a variety of conferences and seminars, Eco Athlete Champion, and co-founder of 7 Summits Snacks and Wings of Survival, Leanna is also a Women of Vision Award recipient and proud mom, passionate about inspiring strength, resilience, and advocating for a healthy planet. Anita Cardinal, Ultra Runner and Founder of
Anita Cardinal is Nêhiyaw (Cree) and a member of Woodland Cree First Nation situated on Treaty 8 Territory, but currently resides in Treaty 6 Territory (Edmonton, Alberta) with her family. Anita is an ultra-trail runner, a wife, mother and Kokum and the founder of Indigenous Runner. She is also a Lawyer with her own general practice with a focus on child protection. Anita is the Race Director and Organizer for Annual Orange Shirt Day Run/Walk Every Child Matters and the Medicine Run Ultra and Relay in Edmonton. She also serves on the River Valley Alliance board of Directors as the Chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Committee. You can find Indigenous Runner on Instagram and Facebook where group runs and walks are organized weekly and teams organized for a variety of races near and far.
