Understanding Substance Use, Stigma & the Power of Peer Support
About this Event

About the Event: Join us this September for our MHA Speaker Series with Evan Tucker, CRPA

In recognition of Recovery Month, join us for an open and meaningful conversation about substance use, recovery, and the power of connection.

This presentation will explore substance use disorder, common misconceptions about addiction and recovery, and how stigma can create barriers for individuals and families. Through education and lived experience, Evan will share insight into the recovery journey, including the challenges, turning points, and connections that can make recovery possible.

Attendees will also learn practical ways to support someone struggling with substance use or navigating recovery, including communicating without judgment, setting healthy boundaries, reducing stigma through language, and understanding the difference between helping and enabling.

The conversation will also highlight the role ofpeer support, community, and shared experience in recovery, along with resources for support.
