Recovery & Growth Event/World Mental Health Day

Following the positive feedback from our previous Recovery Events, we have chosen to celebrate World Mental Health Day 2023 through offering our third Suicide Prevention Event on Tuesday 10th October 2023. World Mental Health Day 2023 aims to promote and drive positive change for everyone’s mental health, so Forward Thinking Birmingham (FTB) would like to invite you to a day to support our thinking about Recovery & Growth: Building a life worth living. We hope that by joining us on this important day, we can share the progress FTB is making in using the CHIME model of recovery to develop ideas in supporting the children, young people, carers and parents of Birmingham.This event will consist of a morning session of workshops and interactive discussions, and an afternoon session where we will invite you to find out more about what Recovery means to you, explore, contribute and learn about various projects that are occurring across FTB.

Morning Session: Workshops and Interactive Discussions starting at 9:30 (doors open at 9:00)

- An introduction with Anne Crawford-Docherty- What is helpful help? by Think4Brum- Themes from post-traumatic growth research (Paul Patterson & Amanda Skeate)-Recovery through activity by Occupational Therapy-What is a peer support worker? And career progression (Peer support workers, Nora Apter & Katie Wilkinson)

Lunch will be provided 12:30 to 1:30pm

Afternoon Session: Table Activities and Interactive Stalls from 1:30pm to 4:30pm

-Think4Brum-Collating ideas: what do you want services to look like?-Recovery Through Activity – inc RSPCA-Peer support workers-Staff support and Well Being-Developing a LOGO – what is Recovery to you!-Psychological First Aid – developing safety boxes
