About this Event
Join artist Spencer Van der Zee for this four session workshop, Recording and Interpreting Dreams in Art. In this workshop series we will discuss the history of humans, dreams and their relationship to art – from ancient times to Dali and his hypnagogic visions, and beyond. Students are to keep a dream journal for at least a week before class. In class we will focus our dreams into sketches and then completed paintings. Students will share ideas and paintings. We will also work on an ongoing group project. The class is more about concept than technique and will be different than most traditional art classes.
Some materials included, but Spencer suggests that you bring:
- Pencil, variety of micron pens, ink with pen and nib - something to draw with
- Art surfaces: Students should bring a sketchbook - at least 8.5" x 11"
- 16" x 20" canvas boards (1or 2)
- Paints / adding color: Students can use whatever paints they like
