About this Event
We are inviting Indigenous and non-Indigenous families and individuals, to participate in a Reconciliation Mural Project. Join us to hear the wisdom of a traditional Indigenous Knowledge Keeper and Elder on nature and their spiritual connections to land and animals. Participants will be painting a 1-foot square canvas to be integrated into a large community-created mural. All ages and painting skills are welcome to attend this creative and contemplative afternoon that includes a meal and snacks.
The process: We will provide a painting activity rich in learning and reflection. There will be opportunities to hear Indigenous stories about nature and traditional practices from an Elder.
The end result: A community-created mural will be installed inside McDougall United Church with text in English and Stoney Nakoda explaining how it came about and what it represents. The painters will have a sense of satisfaction in taking part in this creative and beautiful artwork. All ages will have come together, sharing space and time in a meaningful way.
