Mental Health in Our Community: Examining the Stories We've Inherited and the Ones We Want to Pass On

Speaker session led by Dr. Talia Moore

Dr. Talia Moore is a criminologist, forensic professional, educator, and researcher specializing in trauma-informed practice, forensic psychology, criminal justice, and community-based intervention. She serves as the Graduate Forensic Psychology Program Director and Assistant Professor at Saint Mary's College of California and also teaches at California State University, East Bay. Before entering higher education, Dr. Moore spent more than a decade as a Deputy Probation Officer, working with justice-involved youth and adults impacted by trauma, substance use, and mental health challenges. Drawing on both academic scholarship and extensive field experience, her work focuses on rehabilitation, restorative justice, mental health, and the intersection of psychology and the legal system. Dr. Moore is also the founder of Want Moore Media, an educational new media platform dedicated to helping audiences better understand crime, psychology, trauma, justice, and current social issues through credible, research-based education, thoughtful analysis, and meaningful community dialogue.
