Join us for the 2nd Annual Reclaiming Watermelon, a cultural celebration and community gathering dedicated to honoring, educating, and restoring the historical and economic legacy of watermelon in Negro American life. Once a powerful economic engine for freed Negro communities, watermelon became weaponized as a tool of racial caricature and social ridicule. We are reclaiming its truth.
