About this Event
Let us convene in song, prayer, harvest and stories from the four corners of the world where our ancestors’ paths have taken us and carved intricate lineages within. We will celebrate our crafts, our know-hows, the ways of the lands we have walked and set roots in for hundreds, sometimes thousands of years.
Guided by the teachings of Judeo-Arab, Middle-Eastern and Andalusian singer Laura Elkeslassy, we will learn how to welcome the Shabbat together in the tradition of our ancestors. We will rest, eat and sing piyutim together, collect the herbal secrets and magic of our grandmothers, map our stories of belonging, loss, exile and recovery.
The retreat will climax with a Havdalah and a Ya Ghorbati, Divas in Exile concert , by Laura Elkesslassy
