Reclaiming Money: Create Your Own Currency

Join us at the Cosy Crafting Room at The Scrap Space, Brighton, for a creative afternoon where you will make your own currency.

In this workshop, we will dive into what money and currency are, and with the help of writing and drawing prompts, we will create our own using reclaimed materials.

We will use what's discarded and considered invaluable, reclaim its meaning to create a currency which aligns with what’s important to you - reclaiming what is valuable to you and your community.

This is part of our new Aghh! Zine Issue 04 “Money” series of workshops, where we explore the theme and learn easy and affordable techniques you can use in your creative practice.

This workshop is open to all artistic abilities. No experience is required. Come with an open and playful mind. For people aged +13. Under-16s must be accompanied by an adult.

The Scrap Space is on the third floor of Community Base.

The venue is fully accessible, with a lift and accessible toilets on the ground floor or the North Wing 2nd Floor.

The general ticket price is £5. We added another ticket for £10 if you are feeling generous and can afford to support us.

Aghh! Zine is a zine created in the heart of Brighton and Hove, UK, by MNamug and Nuria Castro.

Our Aims are to create a safe space to discuss and investigate ourselves, society and subjects that are considered taboo or not mainstream.

We also aim to give a platform for new voices and easy access to publishing opportunities with a focus on queer, BIPOC and other underrepresented communities.
