How does one talk about Black cemeteries and also fighting against slavery?
"Reclaiming Richmond's Black Cemeteries is Resistance" on Saturday, October 12, offers just that opportunity. The Sacred Ground Historical Reclamation Project invites organizations working to reclaim, protect, honor, plan for and preserve Richmond's historic Black cemeteries to gather, share experiences, discuss successes and challenges, report on progress and continuing struggles. It is our hope to provide a space for sharing, networking and learning how each might strengthen the efforts of the others.
The program will also include short films and presentations on the topic of resistance to slavery, racial oppression and social inequities.
Time: 11 am to 4 pm
Place: The Valentine, 1015 E. Clay St., Richmond, Virginia
