A soft invitation for BIPOC people of all walks of life to join for an evening of solidarity and processing, through movement and sound --
About this Event

Pablo here. I humbly invite you to join me for an evening of release and celebration - a space for us to shout, dance, write, share, and be seen in our fullness. A space where we can breathe for a moment and remember that there is so much energy we can utilize within ourselves when we feel accepted and seen.
Anger and frustration that arise when facing racial prejudice are often quickly labeled as violent or aggressive. I’m hoping this time can be an opportunity for us to say: "no, I'm angry, and it's ok that I'm angry". Your frustration with experiences like that makes complete sense.
Racism in 2026 has taken on more interesting, subtle forms that can be even more difficult to name, confront, or even avoid. Though subtle, aggressions felt in this way can leave us with a great deal of unease and unconscious tension in the day to day.
Oppressive forces are meant to weigh us down, burden us with fear of reprisal for existing in these natural, beautiful bodies.
I've heard from many BIPOC folks over the years how they feel anger, grief, discontent, and frustration from being treated as less than, or being encouraged - gently or not so gently - to soften our cultural edges to be more palatable.
There is a quiet cost to navigating prejudice and racism as it arises; it can easily become a drain on our energy. We ought to feel full and proud of our heritage, our culture - especially in a city like Toronto, often touted for being a cultural melting pot. Why, then, do we keep hearing stories of anything less than acceptance and equality?
Here is what we will move through together:
8 pm - Arrival
8:15 pm - Gather, introduce, and reflect
8:45 pm - Opportunity to sound, shout, write, dance, stomp
9:30 pm - Affirm our power, pride, and joy for our differences, our cultures and history
10 pm - Feel restored and spacious

Upon arrival, please enter via the red door with the big yellow stars on it, then head up the stairs.
