Recital Kla - Vier Duo “ De la Atlantic la Carpați”

Founded in 2013 by pianists Sónia Amaral and Patrícia Ventura, the Kla-Vier Duo is one of Portugal's piano duos that has been performing regularly since its formation, maintaining a concert schedule that allows it to be constantly updated and that has been growing both nationally and internationally. The Kla-Vier Duo's program is based primarily on a 20th- and 21st-century repertoire, encompassing a wide range of styles, aesthetics, and composers such as Ligeti, Kurtág, A. Pärt, Berio, and Hindemith. In March 2014, the duo performed the first national performance of Morton Feldman's “Work for Two Pianists”. However, the duo also seeks out landmark works from the repertoire for this ensemble, such as those by Ravel, Poulenc, or Debussy. Furthermore, aware of their crucial role in promoting new artistic content, the duo also aim to place a special emphasis on Portuguese music and to encourage composers to create new works. As a result, the Kla-Vier Duo already has several works dedicated to it, having performed a number of world premieres: “Por um dia igual” by Sofia Sousa Rocha (2014), “Quatro Inquietações” by Ana Moura (2015), “Prelude to a Rock and Fugue” by Paulo Bastos (2018), and “absit omen” by Tomás Alvarenga (2019). The Kla-Vier Duo has also recorded two music videos featuring pieces by the composers Paulo Bastos and Sofia Sousa Rocha, which are part of the regular programming of the international music channel CMusic TV, to be broadcast in Europe, the United States, and Canada.
