Recipe for Connection
About this Event
What makes a neighbourhood feel like home?
Join the Vancouver Design Nerds at the Fraser & 27th Plaza for a day of making, sharing, storytelling, and getting to know the people around you.
Maybe it’s a person who always says hello. A favourite bench. A shortcut you’ve taken for years. A snack you remember having after school. A family tradition. A neighbour who looks out for you.
For this neighbourhood activation, we’re collecting “recipes for connection”: the ingredients, traditions, stories, places, and everyday acts of care that help a community thrive.
And your recipe doesn’t have to be about food!
What’s happening?
🍲 Learn a recipe for connection
Listen to neighbours share the people, places, rituals, traditions, and small acts of care that make the neighbourhood feel like home. Some recipes might be edible, others might be something entirely different.
✏️ Make a recipe card
Drop in for creative activities that help turn neighbourhood stories and knowledge into something tangible.
💬 Share your story
Meet your neighbours and exchange the little pieces of knowledge that often get passed along informally, from one person to another.
🌱 Help shape the neighbourhood
Your stories and contributions will become part of a collective picture of what connection and belonging look like in the Fraserhood.
Come for five minutes or stay for the afternoon. Bring a story, bring a friend, bring a recipe, or just come curious.
Everyone is welcome.
This is a free, drop-in community event. Registration helps us get a sense of who is coming, but you’re welcome to join us even if you haven’t registered.
