Recalibrate x SlurpFest Presents: Acid Trip

Continuing our sensory sessions, we will focus on one of coffee’s most complex and defining elements: acidity.

Together we will taste six different acids — five organic and one mineral — to explore the diverse sensory expressions that acids can contribute to coffee. We will taste them individually in water to provide a clear reference point for understanding how each acid behaves on the palate.

We will then evaluate each acid alongside a control coffee. This comparative tasting will highlight how different acids interact with the coffee’s inherent sweetness and structure.

To support the session, we will provide a detailed handout outlining the primary acids found in coffee and how factors such as roast degree, origin, processing method, and varietal influence their presence and perception in the cup.
