Rebel Royalty Chess - Club

Rebel Royalty Chess Club is for passionate players who want to challenge themselves and skills in chess. There is no age limit, and classes are taught in Virginia Beach. Players will learn basic and intermediate openings, tactics, notation, game analysis and checkmate patterns. Each session will feature 1 tactics, a game analysis, puzzles to solve and game play. They will understand how to apply tactics and the lessons learned from game analysis to game play which incorporates critical thinking, mathematical comparison and taking notation. All materials will be provided, and I hope to compete in an internal and external tournament by the end of the season.

My name is Lina Matos Ragin and I am a former educator and administrator. Before I jumped into the classroom, I taught and coached chess in NYC public and charter schools. My classes began in kindergarten and went through 8th grade. I have seen so many success stories from students who gained confidence in themselves, an increase in patience and respect amongst peers, and an increase in academic stamina and focus. I am happy to be able to offer chess as an outlet, and look forward to meeting you and your family!
