About this Event
Be part of the hottest opening event in the suburbs! Rebel Music spotlights the trailblazing women of color who shaped American sound — from rock and funk to punk, soul, and beyond. Inspired by BBFF Founder Vici Howard’s nostalgic Route 66 “Sunday Drives,” this exhibition rewinds, re-listens, and restores the credit these pioneers deserve.

This opening program features a 30-minute documentary celebrating the trailblazing women of color who reshaped the sound and spirit of rock ’n’ roll. Through archival footage, interviews, and narration, audiences will meet Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Big Mama Thornton, Grace Jones, Alejandra Guzmán, and others. A nostalgic Route 66 thread ties these stories to Chicagoland roots and family road trips.
