Join us for RBC's September event as we explore this month's theme, Crisis Response, via Annie Jacobsen's book, "Nuclear War. A Scenario".
About this Event

About the book:

Until now, no one outside official circles has known exactly what would happen if a rogue state launched a nuclear missile at the Pentagon. Second by second and minute by minute, these are the real-life protocols that choreograph the end of civilization as we know it. Based on dozens of new interviews with military and civilian experts who have built the weapons, been privy to the response plans, and taken responsibility for crucial decisions, this is the only account of what a nuclear exchange would look like.

Why we chose it: "Essential if you want to understand the complex and disturbing details that go into a civilization-destroying decision to drop the Bomb on an enemy.” - The New York Times

Delicious drinks are included, as well as engaging storytelling and space for conversations and sharing your own journeys across countries and continents.

About Rebel Book Club

Every month since 2015, we've helped 1000's of curious minds explore a topic, meet, discuss and share learnings & actions. We're meeting monthly in London and four other locations within the UK (Oxford, Manchester, Bristol and Edinburgh), in Denver and New York (USA), in Sydney & Perth (Australia) and Toronto & Vancouver (Canada) + we have a digital membership for members round the world.

Your host for the evening: Katherine Sladden

Katherine hosts Bristol meet-ups every other month. Founder of a campaigning non-profit Katherine is passionate about how stories can move people to action. Katherine moved to Bristol four years ago and since then have dived into all the city has to offer. Running with Queens Square Run Club, a director at the Bristol Cable newspaper and most weekends she can be found walking her border terrier Harris out in one of the many green spaces around the city.

Biggest RBC impact: "For me RBC is about meeting new people and being surprised, challenged or moved by what they share. There are not many places were curious people get together just to listen and learn from each other. In my favourite sessions I come away with an idea I hadn't heard before or another book, podcast or film recommendation to follow up on."

Her top book recommendations at the moment are:

- A Waiter in Paris by Edward Chisholm

- This is an Uprising by Mark Engler and Paul Engler

- Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert
