In April 2024 curator Rebecca travelled to Japan on a research trip funded by Art Fund's Jonathan Ruffer Curatorial Grant fund. Rebecca's goal was to find out more about the historic links between Oldham and Kagoshima, which date back to 1865, when three men from that region came to Platt Brothers to purchase machinery.
In this talk Rebecca will introduce the history of the relationship between Oldham and Japan, share some information about her research trip and briefly look at future plans for celebrating and continuing this partnership.
