Yoseli likes to watch soap operas and has a tattoo of the Eiffel Tower on her back. She always dreamed of traveling, but when she tried, she was arrested at the airport for illegal drug trafficking. Nacho is a trans man who is in prison for fraud and has formed a rock band with other trans prisoners. He falls in love with Yoseli. Soft or hard, blonde or shaved, cis or trans, long-term prisoners or newly imprisoned: In this multi-layered musical, each inmate reimagine their time in a Buenos Aires detention center.��REAS is a collective work, a theatrical-hybrid production which reinvents the genre of the musical to offers ingenious forms of collective empowerment: The performers dance and sing about their prison experiences, reviving them as fiction, and use fantasy and imagination to play out possible futures for themselves by reenacting scenes from the past. Created by award-winning theater and film director Lola Arias, REAS celebrated its world premiere at the 2024 Berlinale.

Yoseli wollte schon immer einmal verreisen, aber sie wurde am Flughafen wegen illegalen Drogenhandels verhaftet. Sie schaut gerne Soap-Operas und hat eine Tätowierung des Eiffelturms auf ihrem Rücken. Nacho ist ein Transmann, der wegen Betrugs im Gefängnis sitzt und dort mit anderen Trans-Inhaftierten eine Rockband gegründet hat. Er verliebt sich in Yoseli. Sanft oder hart, blond oder rasiert, Cis oder Trans, Langzeithäftlinge oder neu Inhaftierte: In diesem vielschichtigen Musicalfilm erfinden sie alle ihre Zeit in einer Haftanstalt in Buenos Aires neu.��REAS ist ein kollektives Werk, das in einer theatral-hybriden Inszenierung der kollektiven Selbstbehauptung kongeniale Formen bietet und das Genre des Musicals neu erfindet: Die Performer*innen tanzen und singen über ihr vergangenes Leben im Gefängnis, lassen ihr bisheriges Leben als Fiktion wieder aufleben und erspielen mit Fantasie und Vorstellungsvermögen für sich selbst eine mögliche Zukunft, indem sie Szenen aus ihrer Vergangenheit nachstellen.
