Documentary Film Screenings
The Reality Check film series promotes and encourages documentary filmmakers in India, whose work reflects life and culture in the country today in a thoughtful blend of creativity and integrity.
Hello Guyzz!
Hindi & Bengali with English Subtitles (24 mins)
Hello Guyzz! is a reflection of present-day India where cheap internet, longing to become the next big star and high aspirations are a reality. But so are class, caste and gender differences. To Sumita, the subject (and also the star of the documentary), social media is a space to have an alternate identity; an identity away from getting kids ready for school, being a homemaker and struggling to find means to lead a good life. Sumita straddles mundane domesticity of her real life and the possibilities of her life on social media, hoping to make a successful career out of it and perhaps fulfil her long-lost dream of becoming an actor. With Hello Guyzz!, the filmmakers aim to document the intersectionality of gender, society and class.

An Engineered Dream
Hindi & Gujarati with English Subtitles (72 mins)
An Engineered Dream offers an intimate glimpse into the lives of young students in Kota, Rajasthan—the country’s most intense coaching hub for engineering entrance exams. Moving beyond statistics and institutional success, the documentary focuses on the human cost of this pressure-driven system through the stories of four teenagers living away from home. Their journeys reveal the loneliness, sacrifices and quiet resilience demanded by an environment ruled by rankings, routines and relentless study. With its unflinching eye for detail—from cramped hostel rooms to fleeting moments of camaraderie—the film paints a layered portrait of youth caught between ambition and expectation. In doing so, it raises poignant questions about the price of success and whether dreams shaped by others truly belong to the dreamers themselves.
