Are you excited and interested in acting but wish you had more confidence and experience, especially in front of the camera?
This warm and approachable two-evening course is open to everyone and will guide you toward natural acting and and freer expression.
Connection, listening, presence – where do they come from?
Come try, explore, and discover in a safe environment together with others, and gain tips and confidence in the process.
The course teaches how to let go of excessive pressure and trying too hard, and how to trust yourself and your genuine impulses. In addition to more natural acting, the goal is to bring joy and freedom into the practice.
The course includes a variety of exercises, some of which are based on the popular Meisner technique.
Participants will work in pairs on a short scene, and the text will be approached through a freeing cold reading exercise. You’ll learn a simple method for connecting with the material and developing a deeper relationship with the scene.
On the second day of the course, scenes will be rehearsed and filmed in front of the camera.
The casting directors at Helsinki Casting will review the filmed scenes after the course, and each participant will also receive a copy of their own filmed material.
The course is led by Nita Arpiainen, founder of Actors Academy Finland and an experienced acting coach.
WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
This course is suitable for beginning actors, or for those who want to feel more confident and free in their performance—especially in front of the camera. No previous experience is required—the course is open to everyone. It’s also ideal for those interested in getting an introduction to the Meisner technique.
