About this Event
This time, our #readtheworld book club takes us to Ireland. We'll be discussing The Fire Starters by Jan Carson, a sharp, unsettling novel about fatherhood and inherited violence, set in an East Belfast still smouldering sixteen years after the Troubles.
Coordinator: Patricia Corrigan. Belfast-born and long based in Madrid, Patricia is the founder of the language training business English Peak, now retired and devoted to literature, cinema and theatre.
Spots available: 20
Price: €5 (we offer 5 subsidized spots per session - email [email protected] if you need one).
ABOUT #READTHEWORLD
At Parent(h)esis, we feature a different country every couple of months with a curated selection of books by authors from that country, as well as books about it, spanning all genres in both Spanish and English.
With #readtheworld book club we want to take this exploration a step further. Our goal is ambitious yet exciting: we want to discover the world together with you, exploring books and authors from corners of the planet that we may not know well or may not have read before.
Every time, we choose a book written by an author from our featured country, available in both Spanish and English, and organize two sessions: one in each language. What's most special is that each session is coordinated by someone from the place we’re exploring.
