His first book, “Civilized Piety: The Rhetoric of Pietas in the Pastoral Epistles and the Roman Empire” (Baylor University Press, 2017), brings together his research interests in early Christianity, Greco-Roman archaeology, and ancient philosophy and was awarded the international Manfred Lautenschlaeger Award for Theological Promise. His work on the Letters of Timothy and Titus has been featured in many edited volumes, including the Westminster John Knox Study Bible, The State of Pauline Epistles, and The Dictionary of Paul and his Letters. He is currently co-writing a book with Cree First Nations biblical scholar, Danny Zacharias entitled: Reading the Bible on Turtle Island: An Invitation to Indigenous Interpretation to be published with InterVarsity Press in November 2025.
