Foto féminas artists Luiza Konz, Julieta Anaut and Lorena Marchetti will be discussing their practice and their experience in the Foto Féminas collective, together they will host a short workshop.
- Thursday 17th October / 12pm - 2pm
Alix Beeston
Is photography a feminist art—or can it be?
Session details: Featuring an informal talk and a creative writing workshop, this session will give participants an opportunity to explore and practise feminist ways of seeing, thinking, and writing about photographs. Dr Alix Beeston will give a snapshot of current scholarly work in feminist photography studies, including her own experiments in engaging with images of women and girls both critically and creatively, before leading participants in devising short written reflections in response to specific photographs in the gallery space. This session will generate an inclusive, open-ended discussion of the politics and ethics of viewing photographs, encouraging participants to reimagine their encounters with images in art and life.
All are welcome and no prior writing or scholarly experience is necessary. Participants should bring along pen and paper (or a digital device) to facilitate their writing.
- Thursday 24th October / 12pm - 2pm
