Synopsis:
At the end of prom night, two boys and a girl are on the riverbank. Alcohol, desire and the night create a troubled atmosphere, and something happens between these three people. And then nothing: only the awkward silence of youth. Twenty-five years later, one of the boys, Vincent, is accused of sexually assaulting the girl. He returns to Bas-du-Fleuve, his hometown, to shed light on an event he had buried deep within himself for all those years.
In River Ice, Breaking, Rébecca Déraspe explores the delicate and complex issue of consent, especially with regards to an event that took place many years ago and was never discussed. Déraspe tackles this highly topical issue with great intelligence.
The reading session will take place at Playwrights' Workshop Montreal - 7250 Clark St Suite 103
