About this Event
Attention High School students! Do you love reading? Do you want to help the children in your community? Would you like to get some volunteer hours? If so, you are invited to attend our Volunteer Information Night to learn more about becoming a reading mentor for the “Reading is Our Superpower” Club. This free event will include a reading workshop, as well as snacks and prizes! So, bring your friends and learn more about how YOU can become a Reading Superhero!
“Reading is Our Superpower” Club is a reading mentoring program for 1st-3rd graders who are reading behind their grade level. These struggling readers are assigned a high school mentor who meets with them weekly, and they work together to improve reading. The club will meet at the Knapp Branch of the Detroit Public Library every Tuesday from 4:00-5:00 from January-March 2025.
