Read to the Beat Music Workshop at Birkenhead Central Library

Birkenhead Library are hosting a FREE ‘Read to the Beat!’ for children 8-11 years old as part of this years Summer Reading Challenge 2026. Children will have the opportunity to explore ‘The Diary of a Wimpy Kid’ through the lens of music with an accomplished local musician and the GILIL team (award-winning gigs in libraries outfit). Expect noise, music, worldbuilding and a whole lot of fun!
It’s as easy as A. B, C…
1️⃣ The session will start with a live music performance and the children will have the opportunity to ask questions about their music career!
2️⃣ Next we will host amusic workshop where children will explore the world of ‘Wimpy Kid’ through, lyric, rhyme, percussion and melody.
3️⃣To finish things off participants will work with our GILIL facilitator to share their new
creative skills and earn a Discover Arts Award!

Parents/carers must accompany children and are asked to stay but the session is strictly for the kids only!
Please book a ticket for each child attending. If you are no longer able to attend please cancel your ticket so that the place can be taken by another child.
