Our next Read & Feed will be April 17 and features the widely acclaimed James by Percival Everett. The novel reimagines Mark Twain's "Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" from Jim's perspective, following the same basic plot and characters for the initial part of the journey down the Mississippi. The story diverges significantly, with sometimes heartbreaking, terrifying and horrifying details, as James describes his life on the run as a slave. The meal to follow will be inspired by some of the food eaten by our heroes on the river and on the trail, sure to have some Southern flavor and aroma. Reception and discussion are free. Suggested donation for meal is $10.
