About this Event
It is an exhibition and workshop uses Ronghua 绒花, a traditional Chinese technique, as a medium to critically examine the relationship between third-world’s tradition and fashion under Eurocentric and postcolonial fashion theory. We would like to invite the audience either to make Ronghua themselves and combine with Eurocentric fashion or visiting our display and exhibition about the topic to question the dominance of colonial influences on fashion, while celebrating and revitalizing traditional craftsmanship within a modern context. Our ambition is to uncover the potential and innovative spirit within these traditions, redefining “fashion” as a rebuke to the dominance of European fashion culture, fostering new cultural movements, and exploring possibilities for decolonization in contemporary society.
