RAYO!

The duo of Saul and Elena Rayo carved out a resounding legacy here in Nevada County. The Rayos were adored as musicians and people, sharing their one-of-a-kind global-folk at venues all over town for many years. Their appearances at the Crazy Horse left a major impression.

Sauls passing a few years ago left a gaping void, but the nature of his larger-than-life spirit dictated that his music would carry on vibrantly. These days Elena’s creative fire burns bright enough for both of them as she has stepped into her artistic power in newfound ways. Leading this large group under the name Rayo, her talents as a classically trained violinist, vocalist and burgeoning guitarist are at the forefront. Playing timeless originals as well as reinterpretations of universal favorites, this is a feel-good, dance-friendly experience.

Exploring both acoustic and electric sides of the equation, the band consists of well-loved local musicians including Mark McCartney (Achilles Wheel) on drums, Thomas Schuebel on guitar, Perry Mills on guitar, Kim Kinjo on vocals/percussion and Ajeet Campbell (Nipper Brothers) on bass.
