About this Event
RAW VISIONS features well over 100 works of art by ten artists, seven of which are new to galactic panther. Anthony Coleman is a self-taught, non-verbal, specially abled artist from Philadelphia. Although he is easily labeled as an outsider & is featured in this year's Outsider Art Fair in NYC, he has achieved great success with his vividly colored drawings inspired by pop culture and graffiti. His prolific output has him celebrated in many exhibitions & publications including ARTFORUM. He works with his “coach” Andrew Jeffrey Wright who collaborated on some of the drawings featured in the exhibit. Coleman’s style of pushing popular imagery into something uniquely his is unmistakable.
Ludovic Boulard le Fur is a self-taught French artist born in the 1980s in the Paris suburbs. A free spirit and nomadic creator, he’s often traveled in his van with makeshift supplies, working "off the grid" in nature. He has exhibited his work in numerous venues throughout France and Europe. His work often features anthropomorphic characters, animals, flowers, knights, and wandering minstrels set in dreamlike landscapes and have been described as "uniquely outsider pieces with a sense of raw urgency." About his work, Ludovic Boulard le Fur states.. “My work is an invitation to travel through the meanderings of the soul, to discover oneself and the unexpected universes that live within each of us.”
Abel Burger (b.1982, France) is also a self-taught French artist, and is living and working in the Mediterranean fishing port of Port-Vendres in southern France. Strongly influenced by the artistic movements of the 1990s, Burger was a central member of the Parisian underground scene, authoring texts on gender and identity, and developing a series of video works. Her work has been exhibited in numerous solo shows across Europe, including Musée d'art moderne, Collioure (2021) and Baull gallery, Berlin (2020), as well as group shows in London & the U.S. Mooovooom / Mo (b. 1989, Belgium) portrays his experience with fragmented consciousness, his confrontation with complex realities and the mysterious mechanics of the human brain. David Camero is a multi-media artist, performer, poet, and educator originally from Caracas, Venezuela. After living and exhibiting in Paris, he now resides in D.C. and is sharing his passion for making masks in this exhibit. Arrington de Dionyso (b. 1974 or 1975) is an Olympia, Washington-based artist and experimental musician. He’s been a member of Old Time Relijun since the 1990s. During Old Time Relijun's hiatus, he formed a new band based on Indonesian music called Malaikat dan Singa. De Dionyso directed Reak: Trance Music and Possession in West Java, a documentary film about the music of an Indonesian trance ceremony; the film was shown by the Olympia Film Society in May, 2016. He is also a co-founder of the Olympia Experimental Music Festival. Designer Hedi Slimane incorporated de Dionyso's drawing "Dragons and Angels in Deep Conversation" in various fashions as part of the Yves Saint Laurent 2015 collection. Andrew Abbott creates multi-layered, seemingly obsessive artworks, with non-traditional found materials such as shopping bags, cabinet doors and notebook paper. He received his BA in Studio Art from University of North Carolina. Abbott was born in Nova Scotia, grew up in North Carolina, served in the U.S. Army as a medic, and has lived in Georgia, Maine, Canada, and Puerto Rico. He currently resides in Brooklyn, NY. His works are exhibited internationally. Camille Ashkenazi is a mixed media artist from Alexandria, VA who specializes in making her sculptures using hand-stitched mylar. Each “floating painting” holds its form permanently and will never run out of “air.” Camille finds motivation in achieving perfect craftsmanship using a medium that is so fragile and unique. Kevin Barry (moon wolves) is a Sci-Fi artist who resides in Berkeley, CA. His vibrant, highly detailed psychedelic artwork has landed him impressive exhibitions internationally including at Galactic Panther for the first time.
Investing in art is investing in life. Don’t miss this exhibit on view though all of April.
