About this Event

Both are of Indian origin. That’s roughly where the similarities end.

Raul grew up Indian in Newcastle upon Tyne, developing a brilliantly unconventional perspective on Britain, class, politics, race and identity. Ram grew up in India before moving across continents, eventually becoming an Indian comedian living in Europe and trying to make sense of both places.

The result is two very different comedic brains taking apart culture, politics, immigration, identity, modern life and the absurdities we somehow decided were normal.

Expect sharp jokes, ridiculous stories, political satire, cultural observations and plenty of moments neither comedian could have planned before walking into the room.

This isn’t a lecture disguised as comedy.

It’s two comedians with very different perspectives trying to make sense of an increasingly ridiculous world.

RAUL KOHLI

Raul Kohli is one of the most distinctive voices in British comedy, combining political comedy, surreal storytelling and a perspective shaped by growing up Indian in Newcastle upon Tyne.

His work has earned acclaim across the UK and international comedy circuit. His debut show was selected among the top picks of the Edinburgh Fringe by BBC Radio 4, Huffington Post and The Skinny, and he was nominated for Best Show at Leicester Comedy Festival.

His 2024 Edinburgh Fringe show earned an ISH Best Show nomination, while Chortle called it “one of the most important shows of the Fringe.” His jokes were also selected among The Guardian’s Top Ten Jokes of the Edinburgh Fringe.

In 2025, Raul took his comedy around the world and won Best International Debut at the New Zealand Comedy Festival.

RAM ARANGI

Ram Arangi is an Indian comedian based in Europe whose stand-up combines personal storytelling, political and cultural satire, and the strange experience of trying to understand India from abroad — while simultaneously trying to understand Europe from within it.

His comedy has been featured by Rolling Stone India and BBC Radio, spotlighted on Andrew Schulz’s Flagrant, and featured in the Italian book Voci Audaci, profiling bold new voices in international comedy.
