BIO
Rastacoustic is an Appalachian reggae group combining roots reggae with the Appalachian folk style. The band’s eclectic influences range from the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina to the Blue Mountains of Jamaica, creating a one-of-a-kind musical experience. Rastacoustic’s three well-seasoned musicians include Peter Brown (Guitar, Keys, Vocals), Justin Butler (Bass, Vocals), and Shawn Roberts (Drums, Percussion), who have performed all across America, Canada, and Japan. Frequent guests include Tate Rawl, Jimmie Griffith, Jeremiah Brown, Jeff Dickens, Nik Hope, and Lucas Moomaw.
A charismatic ensemble, the band plays a mix of classic reggae songs (Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Steel Pulse, etc.), upbeat positive originals, and a number of familiar covers ranging from Grateful Dead and Beastie Boys to The Beatles and Cypress Hill. They also cover various 80s tunes. Every show is one drop, hip-hop, and rock-steady fun.
Rastacoustic has been featured on PBS's North Carolina Weekend, Valle Crucis Summer Concert Series, the Jones House Summer Concert Series (downtown Boone, NC), Historic Morganton Festival, Music on Main Concert Series (Sparta, NC), and the Caldwell Arts Council 34th Annual Sculpture Festival (Lenoir, NC).
