About this Event
Raspberry Pi Workshop
Date: March 19
Time: 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Location: KHE 129/139
Join us for a hands-on Raspberry Pi Workshop designed for beginners and students interested in embedded computing and hardware. This workshop will introduce participants to what makes the Raspberry Pi such a powerful and flexible tool, while also explaining how it differs from a microcontroller.
During the event, we will explore the internal components of a Raspberry Pi, including the CPU, GPU, and Memory Management Unit (MMU), and discuss how these parts work together to make the Pi a full desktop-capable system. Participants will also see how a Raspberry Pi can be used for more advanced applications such as AI, high-definition video, networking, and general-purpose computing.
The workshop will also include a hands-on build activity, where attendees will work on creating a real circuit and a Pi-powered Nerf Turret.
What you’ll learn:
- The difference between microcontrollers and microprocessors
- How the Raspberry Pi is built and how its key components function
- Why the Raspberry Pi is considered a “generalist” system capable of running a full operating system and handling many tasks at once
- Practical applications of the Raspberry Pi in hardware and computing projects
Who should attend:
This event is ideal for beginners, students, and anyone curious about embedded systems, hardware, and Raspberry Pi projects.
Come ready to learn, build, and explore what’s possible with the Raspberry Pi.
