Rare Grooves DC is an immersive and intimate music experience that celebrates the soulful, eclectic sounds of the rare groove genre. Often overlooked yet deeply influential, rare grooves include hidden gems in funk, jazz, soul, and R&B from the ’70s and ’80s. The event is rooted in the crate-digging culture, where music lovers seek out and share hard-to-find tracks that capturethe essence of authenticity and raw emotion.

By hosting Rare Grooves DC at Sid Gold’s Listening Room in Union Market, we aim to cultivate a space where music, culture, and community converge. Each Tuesday, the event will transform the venue into a sonic journey through rare and classic grooves, bridging the gap between past and present while fostering a vibrant hub for artists, entrepreneurs, and tastemakers in the city.

rediscover the messages and redistribute their impact.
Hosted by Asha ‘Boom’ Santee of @Boomscat, this session invites guests to recite the lyrics of
their favorite song as a spoken word performance, backed by production curated by Asha.

2. Lyrics may be read from a mobile device if not memorized.
