Public Safety Divers (PSDs) establish baseline skills, knowledge, and abilities to recognize and respond to a PSD in distress on the surface or submerged. This course addresses requisite knowledge requirements found in NFPA standards through a practical approach to learning. Although substantial discussion and delivery of knowledge is included, the program is intended to be conducted in a ‘field’ setting. Standard AHJ equipment is used for divers. Rapid Intervention Techniques for PSDs are potentially lifesaving when a person within an IDLH atmosphere is in distress and is unable to mitigate the situation without outside intervention by a person capable of using specific techniques to aid and remove them from the hazard. Simply stated, this class focuses on the role and proper response of Safey and 90% Divers.
Key training topics include:
RIT - DIVER AND TEAM
COMMAND, COMMUNICATIONS, AND ACTIONS
RIT MANAGEMENT OF UNRESPONSIVE DIVER
DCI AND DCS
BE SURE TO BRING
Participants are encouraged to use ‘mission ready’ dive rescue gear appropriate to their team or AHJ including: Exposure Protection, Full Face Mask, Buoyancy Control Device, Regulator, Depth Gauge, SPG, Alternate Air Source, Compass, 2 Cutting tools, Weight System, and Fins.
