About this Event
Three of the Low Country's ascending rhyme slingers and one of its emerging DJs take Rickhouse's second stage, flanked by an award winning host.
Rapper 1: Ray Deezy | @big_country_deezy_ | The Goose Creek-bred artist, Ray Deezy, of Haitian lineage gravitated toward music early on as a respite from the violent environment that spawned him. Inspired to try his own hand at the craft, the now Oklahoma dwelling MC has ultimately flourished creating hardcore hip hop anthems for the underground, built on an uncanny mix of dark wordplay with millennial references over soul sample driven production.
Rapper 2: mahatma mook | @mahatmamook | Charleston born and raised producer and rapper, Mahatma Mook, is unequivocally one the most prolific artists yet to reach your ears. With a catalogue spanning north of 20 releases since 2021 alone, the assiduous talent who's sound/style hearkens to the likes of literary darlings Billy Woods, Pink Siifu, and Mike insists he's somehow only getting started. Here's hoping he's not being hyperbolic.
Rapper 3: JxShamar | @jxshamar | For dual Carolina-product, JxShamar, hip hop is a vessel of freedom. With influences spanning from Slick Rick, to Juelz Santana, to Boldy James, the 4AM Collective stalwart's creative range is virtually limitless, resulting in albums that are akin to a sonic and stylistic sprawl despite consistentely being crafted around a centralized theme: freedom.
DJ: Ovets | @ovets.wav | Inarguably one of the more adventurous members of the Low Country's quickly emerging DJ class, the only things predictable about an Ovets set are its unpredictability and subsequent body movement from anyone who hears it. Good luck sitting still when he's on the mix.
