Sunday 11/23 4-6pm at the Midway Saloon, we are kicking off a new "Roots & Resophonics 4th Sundays" residency hosted by resonator slide-guitarist Jeff Ray with a special solo performance by PHIL HEYWOOD — a Twin Cities legend whose fingerpicking has earned a National Fingerpicking Championship, NPR appearances, and praise from Pat Donohue and the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
Roots & Resophonics 4th Sundays at the Midway Saloon will spotlight amazing roots music players and resonator-driven sounds; this first night is a rare chance to hear Phil’s lyrical instrumentals and warm baritone up close. Bring friends and ears ready to smile.
Upcoming shows in the residency: Jeff Ray returns with "Slide-Guitar Around the World" on Sun Dec 28, an intimate set of resonator-driven blues, originals, and the tales behind the tunes; and on Sun Jan 25, The Daily Norm (Kae Layne) joins Jeff Ray for a night of delicate, atmospheric fingerstyle guitar — Kae’s debut EP “Sometime, Elsewhere” (Jan 2025) earned praise from Charlie Parr and showcases the evocative, immediately recognizable sound he brings to the Twin Cities scene.
