Raku Firing 2-Night Workshop: Horsehair Mica Tera Sig & Copper Wire Saggar
About this Event
Experience the magic of Horsehair Pottery and Sagger!
Saggar firing with Copper Wire is like wrapping a gift and letting fire do the unboxing. Students will a create cozy saggar "sleeping bags" along with a handful of combustibles followed by a copper wire scarf. Tucked in the kiln, the copper oxides sparks a secret color party inside the sealed chamber. After a cold plunge, the clay "sleeping bag" is cracked off and you might find turquise flashes, fiery reds, smokey swirls or electic copper lines. It's unpredictable, a little chaotic and entirely magical!
Next, students will choose 2 pieces to explore Mica colors and Horsehair pottery. Adding colored Micas to our surface adds splashes of color that agaisnt the black carbon imprint from the horsehiar or feathers reveals a dynamic contrast and finish.
Cost: $100 includes 3 pots, all Suppies, Mateials & Firings
